The Ask
Define the creative direction and expand the visual universe for Germany’s first FLINTA climbing festival. The Felsheld*Innen collective carved out visibility within a historically male dominated terrain and reframed the wall as a site of solidarity.
The Concept
The system draws from the raw codes of climbing culture. Route tape, topo lines, chalk marks, grading symbols. These functional cues are reworked through a more atmospheric lens, infused with the twinkle of city nights and the intimacy of social gathering. Chalk dust becomes sparkling stars. Twilight gradients wash across concrete textures. Climbing holds float in soft, fluid planetary compositions, shifting from object to icon.
Typography balances grounded utility with expressive rhythm. Bold, blocky references to gym signage sit alongside hand drawn gestures and animated details that feel alive and breathing. Motion design adds a pulse, subtle flickers and slow builds that echo anticipation before a send.
